Designing a Web Site Using Microsoft FrontPage 2002
This course is for the moderately experienced computer user who wants to learn how to make a simple web page for personal or business use and host it on the Internet. The student should be familiar with MS Office applications and file management using Windows Explorer. We will cover basic and multi-page design as well as designing navigation controls, adding pictures and graphics, and posting your site on the Internet. We’ll also talk about strategies for getting traffic to your web site.
Free Web Hosting for Students One of the major difficulties of running this class involved the problem of transferring the web site from the classroom computer to your personal computer, and back again. I have solved this problem by providing a free web hosting site on a professionally managed server for 30 days. Once your site is hosted on the Internet, it is a simple thing to pull the files onto your personal computer using the same Publish feature you used transfer it to the Web Host. A discounted web hosting package is available to students for $50 per year, and includes a domain name, space on our web server, and an e-mail address. Hosting can be ordered on the Design Resources page, or purchased in class.
